Sledge \Sledge\, v. i. & t. [imp. & p. p. {Sledged}; p. pr. &
   vb. n. {Sledging}.]
   To travel or convey in a sledge or sledges. --Howitt.

   See {Slay}, v. t.]
   A large, heavy hammer, usually wielded with both hands; --
   called also {sledge hammer}.

Sledge \Sledge\, n. [Perhaps from sleds, pl. of sled, confused

      ice, or bare ground; a sled.
