Medic \Med"ic\, n. [L. medica, Gr. ? (sc. ?) a kind of clover
   introduced from Media, from ? Median.] (Bot.)
   A leguminous plant of the genus {Medicago}. The black medic
   is the {Medicago lupulina}; the purple medic, or lucern, is
   {M. sativa}.
