Dachshund \Dachs"hund`\, n. [G., from dachs badger + hund dog.]
   (Zo["o]l.)
   One of a breed of small dogs with short crooked legs, and
   long body; -- called also {badger dog}. There are two kinds,
   the rough-haired and the smooth-haired.
