Variant \Va"ri*ant\, a. [L. varians, p. pr. of variare to
   change: cf. F. variant. See {Vary}.]
   1. Varying in from, character, or the like; variable;
      different; diverse.

   2. Changeable; changing; fickle. [Obs.]
