Shy \Shy\, v. i. [imp. & p. p. {Shied}; p. pr. & vb. n.
   {Shying}.] [From {Shy}, a.]
   To start suddenly aside through fright or suspicion; -- said
   especially of horses.

   To throw sidewise with a jerk; to fling; as, to shy a stone;
