Scintillate \Scin"til*late\, v. i. [imp. & p. p. {Scintillated};
   p. pr. & vb. n. {Scintillating}.] [L. scintillare,
   scintillatum, from scintilla a spark. Cf. {Stencil}.]
   1. To emit sparks, or fine igneous particles.

            As the electrical globe only scintillates when
