Scar \Scar\, n. [Scot. scar, scaur, Icel. sker a skerry, an
isolated rock in the sea; akin to Dan. ski[ae]r, Sw. sk["a]r.

An isolated or protruding rock; a steep, rocky eminence; a
bare place on the side of a mountain or steep bank of earth.
