Rebut \Re*but"\, v. t. [imp. & p. p. {Rebutted}; p. pr. & vb. n.
{Rebutting}.] [OF. reb??ter to repulse, drive back; pref. re-
+ bouter to push, thrust. See 1st {Butt}, {Boutade}.]
1. To drive or beat back; to repulse.
