Ponderous \Pon"der*ous\, a. [L. ponderosus, from pondus, -eris,
a weight: cf. F. pond['e]reux. See {Ponder}.]
1. Very heavy; weighty; as, a ponderous shield; a ponderous
load; the ponderous elephant.
The sepulcher . . . Hath oped his ponderous and
