   vb. n. {Oppressing}.] [F. oppresser, LL. oppressare, fr. L.
   oppressus, p. p. of opprimere; ob (see {Ob-}) + premere to
   press. See {Press}.]
   1. To impose excessive burdens upon; to overload; hence, to
      treat with unjust rigor or with cruelty. --Wyclif.
