Nay \Nay\, adv. [Icel. nei; akin to E. no. See {No}, adv.]
   1. No; -- a negative answer to a question asked, or a request
      made, now superseded by no. See {Yes}.

            And eke when I say ``ye,'' ne say not ``nay.''
