n : the operation that prepares for the next character to be
printed or displayed on the next line
line feed
(LF, control-J, {ASCII} 10) The {ASCII} character
meaning move the {cursor} down to the same column on the next
line. Originally this would have been done by "feeding" paper
through the printer.
{Unix} uses line feed as its text line terminator ({newline}
character).
