[Thibet. blama (pronounced l["a]"ma) a chief, a high priest.] In Thibet, Mongolia, etc., a priest or monk of the belief called Lamaism. {The Grand Lama}, or {Dalai Lama} [lit., Ocean Lama], the supreme pontiff in the lamaistic hierarchy.
