James Gosling
     
         The software engineer who wrote {GOSMACS}, and served
        as {Sun Microsystems, Inc.} project leader for both {NeWS},
        and {Java}.  He is currently (1997) a Vice President and
        "Distinguished Engineer" at Sun.
