Gerbil \Ger"bil\, Gerbille \Ger`bille"\, n. [F. gerbille. Cf.
   {Jerboa}.] (Zo["o]l.)
   One of several species of small, jumping, murine rodents, of
   the genus {Gerbillus}. In their leaping powers they resemble
   the jerboa. They inhabit Africa, India, and Southern Europe.
