Famish \Fam"ish\, v. t. [imp. & p. p. {Famished}; p. pr. & vb.
   n. {Famishing}.] [OE. famen; cf. OF. afamer, L. fames. See
   {Famine}, and cf. {Affamish}.]
   1. To starve, kill, or destroy with hunger. --Shak.

      distress with hanger.
