Fame \Fame\, n. [OF. fame, L. fama, fr. fari to speak, akin to
   Gr. ???? a saying, report, ????? to speak. See {Ban}, and cf.

   1. Public report or rumor.

            The fame thereof was heard in Pharaoh's house.
