Evoke \E*voke"\, v. t. [imp. & p. p. {Evoked}; p. pr. & vb. n.
   {Evoking}.] [L. evocare; e out + vocare to call, fr. vox,
   vocis, voice: cf. F ['e]voquer. See {Voice}, and cf.
   {Evocate}.]
   1. To call out; to summon forth.
