Tolane \To*lane"\, n. [From {Toluene}.] (Chem.)
   A hydrocarbon, {C14H10}, related both to the acetylene and
   the aromatic series, and produced artificially as a white
   crystalline substance; -- called also {diphenyl acetylene}.
