Consolation \Con`so*la"tion\, n. [L. consolatio: cf. F.
   consolation.]
   The act of consoling; the state of being consoled; allevation
   of misery or distress of mind; refreshment of spirit;
   comfort; that which consoles or comforts the spirit.
