   b['e]nin, fem. b['e]nigne, fr. L. benignus, contr. from
   benigenus; bonus good + root of genus kind. See {Bounty}, and
   {Genus}.]
   1. Of a kind or gentle disposition; gracious; generous;
      favorable; benignant.
