Becalm \Be*calm"\, v. t. [imp. & p. p. {Becalmed} (?); p. pr. &
   vb. n. {Becalming}.]
   1. To render calm or quiet; to calm; to still; to appease.

            Soft whispering airs . . . becalm the mind.
