   1. Having omens or tokens of a favorable issue; giving
      promise of success, prosperity, or happiness; predicting
      good; as, an auspicious beginning.

            Auspicious union of order and freedom. --Macaulay.

   2. Prosperous; fortunate; as, auspicious years. ``Auspicious
