Amaurosis \Am`au*ro"sis\, n. [Gr. ?, fr. ? dark, dim.] (Med.)
A loss or decay of sight, from loss of power in the optic
nerve, without any perceptible external change in the eye; --
called also {gutta serena}, the ``{drop serene}'' of Milton.
