   Continuing; lasting.

Abide \A*bide"\, v. i. [imp. & p. p. {Abode}, formerly {Abid};
   p. pr. & vb. n. {Abiding}.] [AS. [=a]b[=i]dan; pref. [=a]-
   (cf. Goth. us-, G. er-, orig. meaning out) + b[=i]dan to
   bide. See {Bide}.]
