Xylocopa \Xy*loc"o*pa\, n. [NL., fr. Gr. ? cutting wood; xy`lon
   wood + ? to cut.] (Zo["o]l.)
   A genus of hymenopterous insects including the carpenter. See
   {Carpenter bee}, under {Carpenter}. -- {Xy*loc"o*pine}, a.
