Veto \Ve"to\, v. t. [imp. & p. p. {Vetoed}; p. pr. & vb. n.
   {Vetoing}.]
   To prohibit; to negative; also, to refuse assent to, as a
   legislative bill, and thus prevent its enactment; as, to veto
   an appropriation bill.
