Tighten \Tight"en\, v. t. [imp. & p. p. {Tightened}; p. pr. &
   vb. n. {Tightening}.]
   To draw tighter; to straiten; to make more close in any
   manner.

   {Tightening pulley} (Mach.), a pulley which rests, or is
      forced, against a driving belt to tighten it.
