Taeniata \T[ae]`ni*a"ta\, n. pl. [NL., fr. L. taenia a ribbon.]
   (Zo["o]l.)
   A division of Ctenophora including those which have a long,
   ribbonlike body. The Venus's girdle is the most familiar
   example.
