   svarir, Sw. svart, Dan. sort, Goth. swarts; cf. L. sordes
   dirt, sordere to be dirty. Cf. {Sordid}, {Surd}.]
   1. Of a dark hue; moderately black; swarthy; tawny. ``Swart
