Protuberant \Pro*tu"ber*ant\, a. [L. protuberans, -antis, p. pr.
   of protuberare. See {Protuberate}.]
   Prominent, or excessively prominent; bulging beyond the
   surrounding or adjacent surface; swelling; as, a protuberant
   joint; a protuberant eye. -- {Pro*tu"ber*ant*ly}, adv.
