Pessulus \Pes"su*lus\, n.; pl. {Pessuli}. [L., a bolt.] (Anat.)
   A delicate bar of cartilage connecting the dorsal and ventral
   extremities of the first pair of bronchial cartilages in the
   syrinx of birds.
