Nemesis \Nem"e*sis\, n. [L., fr. gr. ?, orig., distribution, fr.

   The goddess of retribution or vengeance; hence, retributive
   justice personified; divine vengeance.

         This is that ancient doctrine of nemesis who keeps
         watch in the universe, and lets no offense go
