Meroblast \Mer"o*blast\, n. [Gr. ? part + -blast.] (Biol.)
   An ovum, as that of a mammal, only partially composed of
   germinal matter, that is, consisting of both a germinal
   portion and an albuminous or nutritive one; -- opposed to
   {holoblast}.
