Jeer \Jeer\, n. [Cf. {Gear}.] (Naut.)
   (a) A gear; a tackle.
   (b) pl. An assemblage or combination of tackles, for hoisting
       or lowering the lower yards of a ship.

   {Jeer capstan} (Naut.), an extra capstan usually placed
      between the foremast and mainmast.
