Prickwood \Prick"wood`\, n. (Bot.)
A shrub ({Euonymus Europ[ae]us}); -- so named from the use of
its wood for goads, skewers, and shoe pegs. Called also
{spindle tree}.

A name given to the small trees called guelder-rose
