Emprise \Em*prise"\, n. [OF. emprise, fr. emprendre to
   undertake; pref. em- (L. in) + F. prendre to take, L.
   prehendere, prendere; prae before + a verb akin to E. get.

   1. An enterprise; endeavor; adventure. --Chaucer.
