Melene \Mel"ene\, n. [Melissic + ethylene.] (Chem.)
   An unsaturated hydrocarbon, {C30H60}, of the ethylene series,
   obtained from beeswax as a white, scaly, crystalline wax; --
   called also {melissene}, and {melissylene}.
